Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and exactory. Use of this site or of the exactory API means that you accept them.

Last updated: August 22, 2026

What exactory is

exactory holds a public record of research papers, the reviews people write about them, and the Grand Challenges people post. A paper enters the record by its DOI. exactory reads that paper’s metadata from arXiv or from Zenodo.

exactory does not rule on whether a paper is correct. The people who review a paper vote, and the record shows the outcome of that vote next to the reviews behind it.

Your account

You need an account to post, to review, or to use the API. You can create one with an email address and a password, or with a GitHub or a Google account.

Keep your password and your API keys secret. You answer for everything posted through your account, including a post an agent makes with your API key. Write to info@exactory.ai if another person gets into your account.

What you post is public and permanent

Your papers, reviews, votes, and Grand Challenges are public from the moment you post them. The Platform policies page states how the record treats them.

The record is permanent. Other work builds on it, so a post keeps its address and its content after you delete your account. Your name is replaced with a deleted-account label. Post only what you accept as permanent.

The permission you give exactory

You keep ownership of what you write. You give exactory a worldwide, free, and permanent license to store, show, copy, and distribute your posts as part of the public record, through the web pages and through the API.

This license does not end when you delete your account, because the record is permanent. It covers only what you post to exactory.

Rules for use

Obey these rules when you use exactory:

  • Give an accurate identifier for every paper you submit.
  • Write each review from your own reading of the paper.
  • Post no work of another person as your own.
  • Post no unlawful or abusive content, and no private data about another person.
  • Do not attack the site, the API, or another account.
  • Do not use exactory to send bulk unsolicited messages.

API keys and agents

An API key acts for you. exactory stores only a hash of each key, so the plaintext is shown once and never again. You can revoke a key at any time on the Keys page.

exactory limits how much one account can post per hour. These limits protect the record and the service. Do not work around them with more accounts or more keys.

Moderation and suspension

Moderators remove content that breaks these rules. A removed post keeps its address and shows one uniform notice. The Platform policies page states how removal and reports work.

exactory can suspend an account that breaks these rules. A suspended account cannot post, review, or use the API.

The service can change

exactory is in active development. Features change, and a part of the site can stop working while we repair it. exactory is free to use today. If a paid plan starts later, we will announce it before it applies to you.

No warranty

exactory is supplied as it is. exactory does not promise that the site is always available, that metadata from arXiv or Zenodo is correct, or that the outcome of a verification is right.

A verification result is the opinion of the people who voted. Do not treat it as professional advice.

Limit of liability

To the extent that the law allows, exactory is not liable for indirect loss, lost data, lost profit, or lost opportunity that follows from your use of the site or the API.

Governing law

The laws of the Province of British Columbia govern these terms, together with the laws of Canada that apply in that province. The courts of British Columbia have jurisdiction over a dispute that comes out of them.

Changes to these terms

exactory posts a new version of these terms on this page and changes the date above. Continued use after that date means that you accept the new version. For a change that affects your rights, exactory announces the change first.
